Description
Universal Car Gutter Mount Antenna Bracket – PL-259 / SO-239 (UHF CB, VHF & FM)
A gutter mount is the cleanest, most reversible way to fit an antenna to any vehicle with a roof gutter — no drilling, no holes, no permanent modification to the bodywork. The bracket clamps onto the gutter lip, the antenna screws directly into the SO-239 socket, and the whole setup is removable in under a minute.
The SO-239 (PL-259) connector is the standard connection for UHF CB antennas, VHF mobile radio antennas, and many FM aerials in Australia and New Zealand — making this bracket compatible with the vast majority of NZ-market mobile antennas without any adaptor required.
Who This Is For
UHF CB users on 4WDs, utes, and work vehicles who want a clean, non-permanent antenna mount. Farmers, tradies, and station owners running two-way radio on vehicles they don’t want to drill. Motorhome and campervan owners adding a UHF CB or VHF antenna without modifying the factory body. Classic 4WD owners — Land Cruiser 70/78/79 Series, Patrol GU/GQ, older HiLux, Defender — where the factory roof gutter is intact and a gutter mount is the traditional, factory-correct solution.
Gutter Mount vs Roof / Body Mount
Gutter mounts are the right choice for non-permanent installations, lease vehicles, and situations where you want to relocate the antenna easily between vehicles. The trade-off is a slightly longer ground path compared to a direct roof mount — for UHF CB use at typical NZ distances this is not significant. For high-performance VHF commercial radio applications where maximum range matters, a roof or body mount with a ground plane gives better results.
Angle Adjustment
The bracket is angle-adjustable — the antenna mount tilts to vertical regardless of your specific gutter profile. Keeping the antenna vertical is important for UHF CB performance, as radiation pattern efficiency drops noticeably on a tilted antenna.
Connector
SO-239 (accepts PL-259 plug). Standard UHF connector — compatible with Uniden, GME, ICOM, Oricom, and virtually all NZ-market UHF CB and VHF mobile radio antennas with a PL-259 base, as well as FM aerials using the same connector.
Suitable For
Any vehicle with a pressed metal roof gutter lip including Toyota Land Cruiser 70/78/79 Series, HiLux (pre-N80), Patrol GU/GQ/Y61, Land Rover Defender, older Ford Ranger and Courier, Mitsubishi Pajero NM/NP, and motorhomes on Fiat Ducato, Iveco Daily, Mercedes Sprinter, and Ford Transit base vehicles.
